Youth Intermediate Golf Lessons - Session 2 - 2015

Classes run for 4 sessions and are limited to 16 students per class. Niskayuna residents will be given priority. Students should bring their own clubs or use those provided by the Driving Range. This is a youth intermediate class and will focus on the further development of the primary facets of the game (beginner's class) while continuing to develop more instruction and guided learning through practice scenarios. (chipping, wedge play, targeting, developing swing/contact consistency and putting, etc) Advanced players are also welcome to attend and develop their game through practice and basic instruction.  Instructor will contact you through site prior to the first class. Students will be provided with all range balls and services during their time with the instructor (included in cost)

ADVENTURE CAMP 2015

2015 NISKAYUNA TOWN POOL SWIM & DIVE TEAM

The Town swimming & diving teams are open to town and school district residents with basic swimming and diving skills (must be able to swim at least one pool length). Practice begins on June 8th and runs through early August.
Early season practice starts June 8 run from 6:00 - 7:30pm.
Regular Season practices start June 24 and runs from 7:30am - 9:30am.

Fee:$110/child for Niskayuna residents and $130/child for Niskayuna School District Residents(who don't live in the town of Niskayuna).


Diving Instruction Session 1 (6/29-7/10)

Divers must be able to swim the length of the pool and be willing to dive off the diving board to be eligible. Basic front and back dives off of the diving board will be taught and practiced. All classes will be 30 minutes in length and class size is limited to no more than 7.
Each session will have one 30 minute diving lesson.

CIT Training Program Summer 2015

This program will introduce basic skills of bicycling for fitness and work participants up to a 15 mile round trip ride. This program designed for the beginner will be held 100% on the Paved, Niskayuna Bike Trail. Perfect for riders doing 1-3 miles already, the first classes will focus on rides of only 3-8 miles, along with finding balance, the basics of taking a wheel on and off and adjusting seat height. Work up your cycling fitness, ensure correct seat position all along learning from a pro rider. Great to burn some extra calories and have some fun at the same time. 

Kids Learn to Ride-Love the Bicycle 2015

This camp will focus on mini riding drills, bicycle safety, and finding balance. Some campers will work toward removing their current training wheels. Emphasis will be on fun and each camper may have separate goals through the week based on level of riding ability. Stryder bikes welcome! Mini challenges each day with small “rewards”. Campers are required to bring a suitable bike, helmet, water and small snack. Class size limited to 10.

Children will learn the basic parts of a bicycle, bicycle safety, and the best places to ride, including local trails. The final day will conclude with a mini race and award ceremony. Children are required to bring a suitable bike, helmet, water and small snack. No campers with training wheels please. Class Size limited to 12

Girls Field Hockey Summer 2015

camp will be an introduction to the skills and knowledge of field hockey. Players will learn the basics and will practice through individual lessons, group drills and small game situations. If a player is interested in playing goalie, we will have a goalie coach there to teach.

Grades 4-8 ~ 10:00am - 12:00pm
camp is open to new field hockey players and players that plan on trying out for modified in the fall. Players will review the basics of field hockey and perfect the skills they come to camp with. Camp will include drills and a variety of competitive games. Girls interested in playing goalie will have equipment provided along with a goalie coach.

Grades 9-12 ~ 5:00pm - 7:00pm - JULY 20-23 (NOTE NEW DATE PER COACH)
camp is open to new field hockey players and players planning on trying out for JV and Varsity in the fall. We will focus on more advanced skills and apply our skills into numerous small and large field games. Goalies are welcome to attend and we will provide equipment and a goalie coach.

We will be playing coed 4’s on an alternating net height (men’s height one night & woman's height the next). Teams are made of two players. Teams of two players will be joined with other Teams to have games with 4 players v. 4 players. Teams will be mixed throughout the night with one work team for each game. This is a “ladder league” so that teams with a better record will be play each other on an upper net and teams with a weaker record will play each other on a lower level net. Players are expected to be able to serve, pass, set and spike and be familiar with rules of competitive outdoor volleyball.

Join us for this magical camp devoted to all things Harry Potter! During this fun-filled week, students will attend classes in Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures. We will search for Scabbers, make our own wands, outsmart the basilisk, defeat dementors, whomp willows, and more! This camp will concentrate on Books 1 and 2. Pre-reading of the books is not necessary (although it does increase students’ enjoyment), and only fun excerpts will be shared. We will be cooking up various edible concoctions (including everyone’s favorite Lemon Fizz!), so please let us know if your child has any food restrictions. Campers should bring a snack (peanut free please) and drink every day except on the last day when we will have our end-of-term feast. Note: New and returning campers are welcome! The headmistress always makes changes and additions so that every camper will be happy. Some children have attended this camp every single time it has run – and they still come back! This summer’s camp is going to be fantastic!

Learn the basics and foundations of physical fitness in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere. Participants will use their own bodies as the apparatus to develop agility and strength in a daily fitness class and practice flexibility in a daily yoga class.  Time will also be spent each day learning about nutrition and ways to stay healthy. Please bring a healthy snack and lunch each day. 


Fall Youth Soccer League 2015

This soccer league is for children in kindergarten through 8th grade in fall 2015.
It runs Saturdays, September 12th to October 31st. Games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning between 8:30am and 11:30am.

Please register by Friday, August 2nd. Registrations received after that date, must include a $20 per registrant late fee.

A developmental sports and fitness program that teaches children the basic fundamentals and mechanics of 9 different sports: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball. The program incorporates exercises for gross motor development, hand-eye coordination, cardio-vascular fitness, speed and agility and stretching and muscle tone.  The sports will be divided up throughout the week so the children are able to learn and practice the basic fundamentals of each.

This program gives 3 & 4 yr. olds (as of 9/1/15) the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of soccer. The Niskayuna Soccer Club will work with kids to teach basic skills in a casual, fun environment.


Adult Golf Lessons 2015 - Session 2

Ages 16 and older
WEEKDAY evenings; 5:30pm - 6:15pm
Session 2: May 19, 21, 26, 28, June 2
Niskayuna Driving Range
Fee: $100/per session (includes 5 days of instruction and all range costs (rental/balls) -- weather-related make-ups will be scheduled)
Instructor: Ben Smith - NHS Varsity Golf Coach
Adult Classes are strictly limited to 10 students per class. Niskayuna residents will be given priority. Students should bring their own clubs or use those provided by the Driving Range.  This is a beginner's class and is designed to begin the student's appreciation for the game of golf, or further enhance it with intermediate lessons.  The instructor strives to provide for a very comfortable atmosphere for both the first-time golfer and also the current player who wishes to gain more confidence in their game.  All sessions will be embedded with Beginner's instruction and Intermediate/Advanced tips for those players who are returning to the game, or who would like to improve.
